Crispy and flavourful karela chips coated with Indian spices and besan, air-fried to perfection with minimal oil.

Ingredients

  • Karela (Bitter Gourd) – 100–150g
  • Besan – 14g
  • Cumin Powder – ½ tsp
  • Coriander Powder – 1 tsp
  • Turmeric Powder – ¼ tsp
  • Red Chilli Powder – ½ tsp (optional)
  • Salt – to taste
  • Oil – 1–2 tbsp

Directions

  1. Wash and slice the karela into thin rounds. Remove hard seeds if required.
  2. Add salt to the sliced karela and rest for 10–15 minutes.
  3. Squeeze out excess water and pat dry completely using a kitchen towel.
  4. Add besan, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, and little oil. Mix well to coat evenly.
  5. Arrange the coated karela slices in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
  6. Select Air Fry Mode at 180°C for 12 minutes.
  7. Shake the basket halfway through for even crisping.
  8. Once crispy and golden, serve hot.
