Ingredients
- Whole wheat flour 240 g
- Salt 3 g
- Instant active yeast 2g
- Warm water 120 ml
- Walnuts (crushed) 60 g
- Poppy seeds 16 g
- Cumin seeds 2 g
- Fennel seeds 2 g
- Green chilli 5 g
- Salt to taste
Directions
- Mix whole wheat flour, salt, yeast, and warm water to form a soft dough. Move SmartSwitch to Cooker Mode, select function Prove & place the dough in the combi pan. Slide the pan into Level 1 and set temperature at 35*C for 1 hour or until doubled.
- In a grinder jar, add walnuts, poppy seeds, cumin seeds, fennel seeds, green chilli and salt. Roughly grind to prepare the stuffing. (Note - take a spoonful of this paste, add water into it & salt - use this as chutney to serve with siddu)
- Divide the dough and roll into thick discs. Place stuffing in the center, bring the edges together, and seal tightly like a stuffed bun. Gently flatten or shape into thick round/oval buns.
- In a combi pan, add 1 cup water (200 ml). Place the crisper plate over it and arrange the stuffed siddu on top.
- Move SmartSwitch to Cooker Mode, select Steam function and set time for 15 minutes to cook. Press start/stop button.
- Serve hot with ghee or chutney.
