Ingredients

  • Whole wheat flour 240 g
  • Salt 3 g
  • Instant active yeast 2g
  • Warm water 120 ml
  • Walnuts (crushed) 60 g
  • Poppy seeds 16 g
  • Cumin seeds 2 g
  • Fennel seeds 2 g
  • Green chilli 5 g
  • Salt to taste

Directions

  1. Mix whole wheat flour, salt, yeast, and warm water to form a soft dough. Move SmartSwitch to Cooker Mode, select function Prove & place the dough in the combi pan. Slide the pan into Level 1 and set temperature at 35*C for 1 hour or until doubled.
  2. In a grinder jar, add walnuts, poppy seeds, cumin seeds, fennel seeds, green chilli and salt. Roughly grind to prepare the stuffing. (Note - take a spoonful of this paste, add water into it & salt - use this as chutney to serve with siddu)
  3. Divide the dough and roll into thick discs. Place stuffing in the center, bring the edges together, and seal tightly like a stuffed bun. Gently flatten or shape into thick round/oval buns.
  4. In a combi pan, add 1 cup water (200 ml). Place the crisper plate over it and arrange the stuffed siddu on top.
  5. Move SmartSwitch to Cooker Mode, select Steam function and set time for 15 minutes to cook. Press start/stop button.
  6. Serve hot with ghee or chutney.
